Télécombi du Mont-Rond
The Télécombi du Mont-Rond is the main gondola, departing from the col (mountain pass) itself — you can park right at the base. La Verte runs from the summit of Mont-Rond (1,534m) down the gentle west face, through snow-covered firs back to the col.
The gentlest run on the mountain — wide, forgiving, and winding through beautiful snow-laden Jura forest. The perfect run to ease into the day. On the way back up, the view begins to reveal itself.
Télécombi du Mont-Rond
The main descent from the Mont-Rond summit back to the col base. This is the run where the famous view opens up — as you push off from the top, the entire panorama of Lake Geneva, with the Jura plateau below and the Alps above, appears all at once.
The run where it all happens. As you crest the ridge and drop in, Lake Geneva appears below, Geneva city is visible on the lakeshore, and the entire Mont Blanc massif fills the horizon. Hard to ski when you're staring at all that.
Télésiège des Combes
A separate chairlift on the north side of the ski area. Les Combes is more sheltered from the wind and holds better snow on cold days. Less busy than the main gondola runs.
The quieter, more sheltered side of the mountain. Tree-lined with a consistent pitch — a good choice when it's windy at the summit.
Télécombi du Mont-Rond
Runs off the back of Mont-Rond toward the eastern side of the ski area. Less traffic than the main runs and a longer, more continuous descent.
A longer, more continuous blue than La Verte — good for building rhythm. The forest here is particularly dense and atmospheric after fresh snow.
Télésiège de la Faucille (main chair)
The northern side of La Faucille faces away from the afternoon sun, keeping snow quality better longer into the season. The Côte Cozon run is one of the quieter blues — accessed from the main Faucille chair, it winds around the hillside with views toward Geneva and the lake on clear days.
This is the run to do on a bluebird day when you want the Lake Geneva panorama. On a clear day you can see all the way to the Jura ridge. Quiet mid-week — the crowds at Faucille are mostly weekend visitors from Geneva.
Téléski du Crozet or Télésiège de la Faucille
Retour Station is the main descent back to Col de la Faucille village at 1,320m. It's a cruising blue that serves as the spine of the ski area — most people pass through it at some point during the day. Wide, well-groomed, and never intimidating.
A classic progression run — ski it first thing when the piste is freshly groomed corduroy. The village at the bottom has a handful of good mountain restaurants including La Mainaz (classic Savoyard, worth the stop).
Télésiège des Chamois
The Chamois chairlift takes you to the highest accessible point at La Faucille — 1,541m — with panoramic views over Lac Léman (Lake Geneva) and, on clear days, the Alps. The Piste du Lac is the most scenic run in the area: it's named for its views of the lake.
The view from the top of this run — Lake Geneva in the valley below, the Alps on the far side — is genuinely breathtaking on a clear day. This is what La Faucille is about. The run itself is easy enough that you can look around. A 45-minute drive from Geneva Airport makes this feasible as a spontaneous half-day trip.
Téléski des Dappes
The Dappes drag lift accesses the forest sector of La Faucille — the most sheltered area. In poor visibility or fresh snowfall, the Forêt run is the one to choose: the trees provide definition and wind shelter. A quiet, understated blue.
La Faucille's secret advantage over the big resorts: when it's snowing, the forest sector here offers tree-skiing at an easy difficulty level. The trees are mature spruce and fir — proper forest skiing, not just a few pines. An ideal introduction to tree skiing for intermediates.
Téléski des Dappes or Télésiège de la Faucille
Croisette is the main connector run linking the two sides of the La Faucille ski area. It's a medium-length blue that allows exploration of the full ski area without committing to specific sectors. Good for getting oriented on a first visit.
Ski Croisette on your first run to understand the layout of the area. La Faucille is small enough to understand in half a day — Croisette gives you the overview. The area has been significantly improved since the 2019 investment that added the new Faucille chairlift.
Col de la Faucille is 45 minutes from Geneva by car — drive up through the village of Gex into the Jura mountains. It's genuinely possible to ski a full morning, have lunch at the mountain restaurant, and be back in Geneva for dinner.
