France
Isère, France
One of Europe's biggest ski areas, with a glacier open in summer. The blues vary wildly — some are genuinely easy, others have surprise steep sections. This guide tells you which are which.

Cretes Chairlift
The Cretes chairlift sits in the mid-mountain above the main village. This is the run to start on — it has no surprises, no hidden steep sections, and is wide enough to take at your own pace. The local advice (confirmed on r/ski) is always: start here, build your confidence, then venture further.
The most reliably easy blue in Les Deux Alpes. Short, wide, consistent pitch. Ideal first run of the day or for building confidence before going higher on the mountain.
Cretes Chairlift
Adjacent to Cretes, this is an extremely gentle connecting path. So flat it barely counts as a ski run. Good for complete beginners or as a very easy warm-up. Locals call it a cat track.
Essentially flat — use it for warm-up or to give nervous skiers time to find their feet before any real blue runs. Great confidence-builder.
Jandri 1 Express
From the upper Jandri sector, Mura runs down toward mid-mountain. Critical tip: at the Jandri 4 section, always stay LEFT. The right side is noticeably steeper and catches people out. On the left, it's manageable and even sideslip-able if needed. This is the intel that makes the difference.
A satisfying intermediate blue once you know the trick. Stay skier's left at Jandri 4 — the right side has a pitch that surprises people. Left side is fine for most intermediates and sideslip-able worst case.
Diable Gondola
On the west side above the village, accessed from the Diable gondola at the village base. Runs back down to the village. Has some steeper sections mid-run — do Cretes first to warm up before attempting this one.
Groomed daily and wide enough to be manageable, but has steeper sections mid-run. Not the first run to do — build confidence on Cretes first. A good carving run with village views once you're ready for it.
Jandri Express
Upper mountain blue in the Jandri sector at around 2,600m. Access via Jandri 2 from mid-mountain. Named after the Belledonne mountain range visible to the west — on a clear day the views are excellent.
Reliable, consistently groomed upper-mountain blue. Good morning run when the corduroy is fresh. The views of the Belledonne massif across the valley are excellent on a clear day.
Jandri 1 gondola (resort base)
La Fee is in the lower part of the Les Deux Alpes ski area, accessed from the Jandri 1 gondola from the resort base. It's one of the most accessible blues in the resort — directly above the main village strip and visible from the resort centre. A good starting run.
The most accessible run in Les Deux Alpes — right above the village. Good for warming up before taking the gondola higher. Reliably groomed and very wide.
Jandri Express gondola (mid-mountain)
Lauzon is in the mid-mountain area of Les Deux Alpes, accessed from the Jandri Express gondola. It runs across a wide open plateau area at around 2,600m with views down the Romanche valley. One of the most popular intermediate runs in the resort.
A satisfying mid-mountain blue — long enough to build some rhythm and with a good open feel to the terrain. The views of the Écrins massif to the south are excellent. Tends to hold its snow well because of the altitude and aspect.
DMC bubble or Jandri Express (upper mountain)
Tronche is in the upper part of the ski area at around 3,000m, accessible via the DMC bubble from the mid-station or the Jandri Express gondola from the village. At this altitude the terrain becomes genuinely high-alpine with the glacier visible above and the scale of the landscape dramatically larger.
One of the best upper-mountain blues in Les Deux Alpes — at 3,000m the surroundings are extraordinary. Wide, well-groomed, and consistently manageable despite the altitude. Part of the same high-altitude circuit as the Glacier Run we list separately.
Jandri Express → mid-station → Belvedere lift
The Belvedere area sits on the sunny south-facing slopes of Les Deux Alpes at around 2,400m. Wide, open, and with excellent views across the valley toward the Vercors plateau and, on clear days, as far as Mont Ventoux. One of the sunniest parts of the ski area.
The best afternoon run in Les Deux Alpes — the south-facing aspect means the snow warms up perfectly from midday. Wide, open, and with a view that reminds you why skiing in the French Alps is different from anywhere else in the world.
Diable gondola area
The Diable gondola serves the western side of the Les Deux Alpes ski area — a separate access point with a different character from the main Jandri sector. The blue runs here are less crowded and give access to different aspects of the mountain.
The quieter side of Les Deux Alpes — the Diable area gets fewer visitors than the main Jandri sector and the blues here are consistently good quality. Worth exploring if the main sector feels busy.
Super Venosc gondola (Les Deux Alpes base, alternative access)
Super Venosc is an alternative access gondola on the south side of Les Deux Alpes. The blues here are in the lower part of the ski area and tend to have a more intimate, forested feel compared to the high-altitude open terrain of the main Jandri sector.
Good for a change of atmosphere — lower altitude means more tree cover and a different feel. Often quieter than the main Jandri sector and a useful escape when the upper mountain is windy or in cloud.
Upper mountain circuit (Jandri 2 or DMC)
Grenouilles (frogs) is a linking blue in the upper mountain area of Les Deux Alpes, connecting the glacier sector around 3,200m with the mid-mountain circuit. At this altitude the terrain is genuinely spectacular — wide open snowfields with enormous mountain views in every direction.
One of the best linking blues in the resort for exploring the upper mountain. The altitude here is extraordinary — 3,200m with views toward the Écrins national park. Consistently manageable gradient despite the impressive surroundings.
A purpose-built resort at 1,650m with a lively après-ski scene and straightforward layout. Less charming than traditional Alpine villages but very practical — everything is close to the lifts.
Lively resort village · Direct slope access · Good nightlife
Stay near the Diable gondola or Jandri lift bases for the easiest slope access.
The village is long and narrow — the far ends require a short ski or shuttle to reach the main lifts.
