Think through the whole day.

Choose a named piste, check how you’ll reach it, and plan the way back. Official blue grades help identify the run; your confidence and the day’s conditions matter too.

The earlier entries haven’t established a reliable single-blue shortlist here yet. Use the official sources below and share a first-hand report to help us fill the gaps.

The village learning slopes and the high mountain are different choices. Use exact piste numbers for the wider mountain, and put the lesson meeting point into your arrival plan.

Learning at village level
The Swiss Ski School places its beginner area near the ice rink at the end of the village. Its guidance says beginners need the Saas-Fee village-lift pass.Ski-school meeting point and beginner area ↗Ski-school pass guidance ↗
Read each numbered section
04, 04b Gletschergrotte and 04c Skiweg are listed blue in the official map data. They are separate sections, not a verified all-blue descent from the top to the village.Official winter piste map ↗Official numbered piste data ↗
Arrive via Visp
Take the train to Visp and connect to PostBus toward Saas-Fee. If driving, the official parking is at the village entrance; plan the final leg with your bags and equipment.Official Saas Valley arrival guide ↗Visitor parking at the village entrance ↗

Questions before you go

Can a beginner learn to ski in Saas-Fee?

There is a village beginner area near the ice rink, with lessons and a village-lift pass. Confirm your meeting point with the ski school rather than heading straight to the high lifts. The village practice area is a more precise plan than a general “glacier blues” recommendation.

Why are there no individual blue profiles in the current shortlist?

Our earlier entries grouped areas or used names that did not match a single marked blue piste. The map does contain numbered blues, including 04, 04b and 04c, but that does not validate the former descriptions of a long, consistently gentle glacier-to-village route.

Official winter piste map ↗Official numbered piste data ↗
Are Metro, Gletscherband and Plattjen blue runs?

No. The reviewed official map data grades 18 Metro, 10b Gletscherband and 01 Plattjen red. A blue section elsewhere in the same sector does not change those grades. Use the numbered piste, rather than the broad glacier or forest description, to choose a run.

Do I need a car in Saas-Fee?

The village is car-free, and the official visitor parking is at its entrance. Public transport arrives via Visp and the PostBus connection. Before booking, check how you will move between the bus terminal or parking, your accommodation and the lesson meeting point.

Corrected grades, areas & other reviewed entries (10)

These are retained to explain earlier listings, preserve links and distinguish individual pistes from broad areas. They are not additional local blue recommendations.

110b Gletscherband

Red · grade corrected

Saas-Fee

Piste 10b is officially Gletscherband, graded red.

The former Panorama name and easy-blue recommendation were incorrect. This red piste is excluded from blue-run recommendations.

Official grade: RedComfort: not yet rated
Sources & review details

The official grade alone does not establish how comfortable this piste will feel to a less confident skier.

218 Metro

Red · grade corrected

Saas-Fee

Piste 18 is officially Metro, graded red.

The old glacier easy-blue label was inaccurate. Alpin Express is a gondola; Metro Alpin is the underground funicular.

3Morenia sector

Area / multi-piste route

Saas-Fee

Morenia is an area rather than a single official piste, and the surrounding network includes blue and red pistes.

Use the numbered map routes; the former lift connection, aspect and uniformly easy character were not verified.

401 Plattjen

Red · grade corrected

Saas-Fee

The named 01 Plattjen piste is red. The separate 03 Waldweg is listed blue.

The old description blurred these distinct pistes into a 9 km blue descent. A blue forest section does not establish a blue grade for the descent from Plattjen.

504 /04b Gletschergrotte /04c Skiweg

Area / multi-piste route

Saas-Fee

The operator lists the 04,04b and 04c pistes as blue; this entry groups multiple marked pistes.

This confirms their individual official grades, not the old 9 km route length or the claim of an uninterrupted gentle descent from Felskinn.

7Allalin glacier sector

Area / multi-piste route

Saas-Fee

This is a ski area, not one blue piste. The inventory includes red 19 Allalin and 18 Metro, as well as separately numbered blue pistes.

Select the exact marked piste. The previous claim that all glacier skiing here is consistently gentle was unsupported.

8Morenia sector

Area / multi-piste route

Saas-Fee

This label does not identify an official individual piste. Blue and red routes must be distinguished by number.

The contradictory old title and description did not establish an easy-blue recommendation. No red piste is being relabelled as blue.

9Heidbodme / Saas-Almagell sector

Area / multi-piste route

Saas-Fee

Heidbodme is a separate Saas-Almagell sector; the official data reviewed did not provide a reliable blue grade for this bundled entry.

The old claim of a gondola and an easy-blue network down to the valley was not verified. Do not plan a blue-only route from this description.

10Mittelallalin–Saas-Fee route

Area / multi-piste route

Saas-Fee

This is a proposed multi-piste journey rather than an official single blue piste. Its previously cited 10b Gletscherband is red.

The old 14 km uninterrupted easy-blue recommendation has been withdrawn; neither that exact route nor length was verified.
